Frosty dock at six o’clock
Morning’s rising
sun is shining

A shadow lies upon the frost
The sun warms up the dock
As it moves and it sways
It melts the frost away

Oh what a sight to see
Frosty glitters by the sea
Warmed by the sun
Melting into one

Until the sun goes down
And snowflakes come
To cover the ground

A snowflake kiss
      upon my lips
Reminds me of
      the one I miss

      a kiss so brief
      just like the bite
      of ice to melt
      on my warm lips

I walked along
      my head held down
Then snowflakes fell
      upon the ground

I raised my head
      to look above
So I could see
      where they came from

And that is when
      a single one
Landed to kiss
      my lips so warm

      a kiss so brief
      just like the bite
      of ice to melt
      on my warm lips

A snowflake kiss
      upon my lips
Reminds me of
      the one I miss

Snowflakes just like neurons
      intricate
      delicate
      complete and unique

Snowflakes just like neurons
      fall from above
      floating freely
      until they touch the ground
Snowflakes just like neurons
      join together
      form a mass
of what they’re all made of
Snowflakes just like neurons
      melt away
      with the sun
      until a new season

Snowflakes just like neurons
      intricate and delicate
      complex and complete
      undeniably unique

Last night while snowflakes fell
I lay awake somnolently

Not disrupted or interrupted
I simply could not sleep

A list of things to do
Continuously ran through
My head like a plenitude
Of droplets of dew
But tears there were few
Until the morning came
And I thought of you

I swirled and turned onto my right
And held you tight

Then the morning light
Saw your pillow so white

If I could wish upon a star
Or wish upon a snowflake
Too many wishes
I would have to make
To get us through
Everything that we’ve been through

A snowfall or a blizzard
All stars in the universe
All this and so much more
Would be required
For you and I
And so many many more
To live happily
In a home that’s safe and warm
Where finally
We could live without the fear
Of our safe haven
To be taken from us again

Sparkly snowflakes can be seen
Through every cloudy season
Whenever fog rolls in
And when walking through mist

When the weather is cold enough
To turn dew into frost
An image of what once was
Like an instant snapshot
Once again they can be seen
Through crystals on the ground
On rooftops trees and leaves

So if Christmas comes and goes
Without you near or here
Or without a single snowflake
To tumble out of clouds
I will still see them whenever
My eyes see through
Frost and fog and mist and dew

So please don’t fret or fear
If you cannot be near
Sparkly snowflakes I will see
This Christmas Eve
But please remember this:
Every day means so much more
When you are here and near

One two three four
And so many many more
Came down slowly silently
From the sky down to the ground

One two three four
And so many many more
Star like snowflakes filled the air
On this December so silent and fair

Sparkling diamonds
Glittering on docks
Emerald water
Beneath a frosty crunch

White peaks way up high
In the cerulean sky
Where clouds brush mountains
Filled with snowflake kisses

This must be
The closest to heaven
I will ever be
The only thing that’s missing
Is you here with me

A love story would be found
On this silent December
Starlike snowflakes tumbling
Every shape and size glittering
From the sky down to the ground
Love drops crystalized
Filling winter’s air
With white noise silence
      tumbling
      floating
      sliding
      gliding
      glowing
      sparkling
Pure white crystals whispering
Together silently
Filling winter’s air
With white noise silence
A noteworthy melody
Finally
Pure white crystals whispering
“Love is all around”

Another winter
By myself
Missing you

Icy waters
Frosty dock
Frozen heart

White mountaintops
Fill my mind with thoughts
Of you my love

The brumal blast has passed
And the sun shines through
When I return home
And a message came from you

Just like today’s apricity
Warming all of me
The sound of your voice
Apricities my heart

Wish a
Wisha
Wish away
Snap a wishbone after dinner

Wish a
Wisha
Wish away
Walk towards a wishbone bush

Wish a
Wisha
Wish away
And you’ll see a wishbone flower

Wish a
Wisha
Wish away
Wishful I think it must be

Wish a
Wisha
Wish away
For you to witness all its beauty

Wish a
Wisha
Wish away
A wish fulfillment for you all
Wishful wishers this December
To see a bloom upon a shrub
Or snowflakes kissing Christmas trees

How I wish
I could swish
My furry furry paws
On snowy mountaintops

swish swish swish
bliss bliss bliss

How blissful it would be
To feel apricity
Shining down on me

While I swish swish swish
My furry furry paws
On snowy mountaintops

swish swish swish
bliss bliss bliss

But for now I wait
Oh so patiently
For my favourite buddy
To come home and play with me!

A note from Cadence:

A snowy winter may not be for everyone, but in my imagination, it lives on. Growing up in a climate where snowflakes blanketed the earth for almost half the year, every December brings images of a winter wonderland.

Thank you for reading the poems featured in 12 Snowy Days. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy winter season, whether going through snowy days or not.
