Auguster

by Cadence Beret

It was August the first
When our paths first crossed
And just like a breeze
You refreshed my heart

You held my hand
We danced we laughed
We kissed and time stood still
With me you said you’d always be

The ardent August air
Your ardent august air
Befell on me so fair
After too many years
Of a life too austere

The ardent August air
Your ardent august air
Caught me unaware
As you so easily
Disrobed me with grace and ease

Augusts have come and gone
As you have for so long
But once again
You are here with me

The ardent August air
Your ardent august air
How I love to be with my
August air
