Why is the word apricity not included in the dictionary?
Since 2013, Collins Dictionary has suggested it should be, but my recent on-line search indicates that its approval status is pending investigation and it could still be flagged as inappropriate.
Merriam Webster’s Dictionary often highlights the word apricty as a “Word at Play”, yet it seems that a playful word should not necessarily be a recognized one since apricity is nowhere to be found in its dictionary.
I did pick-up on some mention of apricity being found in the Oxford English Dictionary, however, my search for it was fruitless. Perhaps it’s due to not being privy to the proper or most current edition, because it makes no sense to me why such a fitting word would be forgotten, banned, or excluded from any word book.
