Leaf Catcher

by Cadence Beret

Here I go again
I’m set loose and I fall
But this time I don’t land
On solid ground
It’s a creek I sail upon

With great velocity
I move atop this creek
Until I reach
A great mound of a rock
On which I’m stuck

But lucky me
A sprightly furry pup
Comes by and picks me up
And now I’m stuck
On this happy pup’s snout!

He shakes his head
And he bounces all around
Then I’m close to the ground
And this furry pup’s paw
Quickly swipes me off!

But to my surprise
His owner’s friendly hand
Picks me up of the rocks
And takes me and the pup
For a fun autumn walk
