Slumbering Bull

by Cadence Beret

Snooze, snooze, snooze
I dozed off for a snooze
After charging ahead

I once again avoided
The taunting frustrating
Inciting threatening
Poking and prodding
From the matador

Snooze, snooze, snooze
I dozed off for a snooze
The bull’s asleep in bed

I’m exhausted and relieved
So is the matador
We’re both getting tired
We’re both getting old
We’re ready to retire
From all the push and pull

Snooze, snooze, snooze
I dozed off for a snooze
Some think I’m dead in bed

A little bull I am no more
Go to sleep matador
A full-grown raging bull
Is what I have become
When all I really want to be
      is a pretty dancing bull
      not charging at a matador
but dancing with him on the floor
