While I

by Cadence Beret

Sliced sugared limes
Swished with black licorice
In a bluer than blue
Curaçao drink
      while I imagine this
A white sandy beach
Just for you and I
Where we lie privately
On Curaçao Isle
      while my reality is
I lie in a park
Where a beach used to be
There’s nobody here
Anywhere near me
      while I espy this
Viridescent leaves
Clasped to ebony limbs
Moving with the breeze
So sinuously
      while I feel this
Fervent golden rays
Scintillating me
A cool breeze up high
In the curaçao sky
      while I taste this
Sliced sugared limes
Swished with black licorice
In a bluer than blue
Curaçao drink
      while I imagine this
A white sandy beach
Just for you and I
Where we lie privately
On Curaçao Isle
