Wild Evergreen

by Cadence Beret

The smallest tree in town
It grows kinda funny
Its branches all spread out
      unevenly
      haphazardly
      reaching up and out
      side to side
      up and down
      and all around
This cute and wild evergreen
As though it’s been set free
Grows freely as it pleases

With no symmetrical form
Governing its growth
Its movement or its thoughts
It flows freely with the sound

Little wild evergreen
Where’ve you been
Haven’t seen the likes of you
In far too long

Little wild evergreen
It’s such a treat to see you
Moving growing flowing through
Every sound
